Kärnan

This is a tower from the 1400s which is in the middle of the city and I feel very blessed to be able to walk here nearly every day. I have yet to climb up to the top of the tower, but there are already several steps to even reach this point if you approach it from a certain direction:

This tower was here when this area still belonged to Denmark, and Denmark is visible across the sea from many places here.

This tower is downtown, which is not my favorite but there is also very interesting architecture on the streets nearby.

Today I noticed this celestial globe fountain while walking around the area as well. It is devoted to Tycho Brahe, a Danish astronomer who discovered among other things the geo-heliocentric model. I never knew that he was from here and it was a very exciting discovery for me. If you look into the history of where you were born or where you live, you may make such exciting discoveries as well. Not just in terms of famous astronomers from your city but there are many historical landmarks that I think lay right under peoples noses and they never have any idea.
