Samhain

Merry (belated) Samhain my friends. Samhain/Halloween is my favorite holiday, Yule/Christmas being a close second, so the dark half of the year is my favorite.

For ritual last night I invited my beloved deceased relatives (and deceased pets, and any other ancestors I've never met but who watch over me) to come to dinner with me, for which aside from foods I know they enjoyed when they were living, I also baked a cake!

It was originally supposed to be black, however I could not find a drop of black food coloring so it ended up being red instead which I think was still fitting.

It was a beautiful ritual and I intend to repeat it next year. I miss them all very much and sharing a meal with them again was very emotional.

For my costume this year I was Mina Harker from Dracula. Bram Stoker's Dracula is one of my favorite films, and I absolutely love the novel (I intend to make a post about it!) But it was a lot of fun to be her for a night. I also watched Trick r Treat last night, it's my favorite Halloween movie and if you haven't seen it, you should!

Also yesterday I chose a winner for my giveaway I was doing on my tiktok of some things I picked up during my last trip to Salem. If you aren't following I encourage you to, as I have a few plans for future giveaways I'm excited about! November will be a time of preparation and spending lots of time with my family before I return home for the winter. I hope you had a marvelous Samhain.
