Skåne travel week Day 3 - Lund, Trollskogen, Hällestad church

Today I traveled to Lund for the day, the first place I visited was Lund cathedral. I love cathedrals, but this one was special because it has a beautiful astronomical clock

This is an incredible 15th century marvel that was brilliant to witness in person. I have heard of astronomical clocks before but this was the first time I ever got to see one! I love all the zodiac symbols surrounding it.

I also visited the crypt which is where the above image is from. It is 900 years old and gave me a headache. I usually really love the energy in cathedrals, but crypts make me feel very strange.

The next place I visited about 45 minutes/an hour away was Hällestad church

The inside of the church has beautiful medieval art, I only took this photo however I was too anxious to go further in as it was empty and I was just afraid. I love spirits and spiritual things but I also know that having an encounter while I'm alone would give me a panic attack.

But the real reason I came to this church was to see these runestones. This was my first time seeing runes in person, as someone who studies and holds a deep love and reverence for runes both because of esoteric/spiritual reasons and out of a love for languages and especially ancient languages, this was absolutely incredible for me.

They say:

 "Eskil set this stone after Toke, Gorm's son, his devoted master. He did not flee at Uppsala. Satte fights for his brother on the mountain. Standing firm (with) runes. De Gorms Toke came closest.”

"Asbjörn, hirdman (to) Toke, set this stone after Toke, his brother."

 "Assgot erected this stone after Erre, his brother. But he was hirdman (at) Toke. Now shall stand, stone on the mountain.”

A 20 minute walk away from this church was Trollskogen, the troll forest! The name had me very very interested and it was lovely!

I saw these trees right when I was walking in and the shape reminded me of this rune:

These trees were very magical and interesting, following the path went out towards a lake

I am afraid of dark waters, but keep visiting lakes haha. I get close enough to take a photo and then leave.

Tomorrow I'm thinking of visiting a burial mound from the same book where I learned about the runestones and about Trollskogen.
