umKava and Tiger Dust

Aside from my work being featured at the bookshelf grand opening recently, some of my poems are now at the usual cafe where I go to play mtg with my fiance, and at the oddity shop where my book club is held! I want to share and talk about them, and I'm so thankful that these businesses think my work is good enough to be represented in their spaces.

At the cafe, there is this one about one of my first rats who passed away. She was a really darling, gentle thing. I really love rats and really all small animals, they truly need to be looked after and protected.

This one I believe I also wrote the same day that I wrote the above poem.

And this one, while written years later, was also written under the influence of LSD. LSD was a great tool for self reflection and healing for me for many years, it has had a huge influence on my art and myself, my brain and my soul.

Of those at Tiger Dust, this one was meaningful to me. I wrote it about finally rejecting eurocentric beauty standards instead of trying to bend myself to fit into them and work as hard as I can to impress and please and submit myself to those who hold them on a pedestal. I've begun rejecting all of that conceptually. Something which I have never been able to do until recently.

Love is cannibalism is love is cannibalism etc, I wanted it to look like a recipe book.

And this is my favorite. This type of poem may be magical or fantastic to the reader but it is literal to me, this kind of writing is me expressing my worldview as a Schizotypal person. Tiger Dust is also carrying my spell bottles and antiques and things I bring back from Europe now, and I'm so glad they've found a home! I'm very happy.
